As most of you know, I'm rarely on Deviant Art any more. Most of the art I do is uploaded onto private sites or not at all. But because I don't have a live journal, or a myspace, or blog page, and because I know so many people stumble across my page I turn to Deviant Art for a noble cause.

Congress has decided to kill, yes kill, excess Mustangs and Burros. These animals are located in long term and short term holding facilities and out on the range. BLM intends to kill these animals, up to 10,000 a year. In the past BLM hired people to shoot them with rifles, in pens, from helicopters, there were no rules. Just take them down. Are we going to idly stand by and let this happen again?

We rally together and fight for the unwanted race horses, show horses, and back yard pets going to slaughter. We get in an giant uproar about PMU mares and foals and find it in our hearts to save them.

We call Mustangs America's symbols of the west, living legends, yet, we keep them in shadowed corners and pretend that they are safe from harm. We watch as our government kills them, one by one. The blood is on our hands as much as the riflemen that pull the triggers.

These are the majestic animals poets have written about, that have carried our cowboys to glory, that helped native americans survive and fight back, that descended from that horses that let the conquistadors conquer the new world! These are the same animals that descend from ranch horses turned loose, draft teams broken free-horses that might've carried your ancestors to the west. You could owe your existence to this breed-after all, the morgan does, the quarter horse does.

Save the Mustangs, for with out them, I wouldn't have my best friend.
